I am considered the greatest missionary since the time of the apostles and the zeal he displayed the wonderful miracles he performed and the great number of souls he brought to the light of true faith in title him to this distinction. I was canonized with St. Ignatius in 1622. One of his relatives is John Sevier. I am a patron saint of Roman Catholic Missionaries of foreign lands...

Who Am I?

I am the son of John, a fisherman, and a native of Galiliee. I became a disciple of John the Baptist, and when I met Jesus at Jesus' baptism by the Baptist, I was called to be Christ's first disciple and then brought Peter to Jesus. An old tradition says that I was crucified on an "X" shaped cross. I am the patron saint of Russia and Scotland.

I am probably the first martyr of Britain, and my life story is based on legend. I was a leading citizen who hid a priest during the persecution of Diocletian. I converted to Christianity and refused to worship the pagan gods, was tortured, ordered to be executed, and performed miracles on the way to the execution grounds and finally, beheaded.

I was canonized in 1867 the 1st eastern Saint to be formely canonized. I achieved a reputation as a compelling preacher and a leading advocate for the union of the Ukrainian Church of Rome. I was beaten and shot to death on Nov. 12th by the mob and my body thrown into the Divina river at Vitebsk Russia.
