Who Am I?

I am the Patroness of Latin America and the Philippines and the first Saint born in the Americas. I was so remarkably and perfectly beautiful, I would cause people to stop what they were doing to stare at me! Afraid that my beauty may be a temptation to someone, I constantly rubbed my face with pepper and lye so my complexion would not be so attractive.
